Scotland’s Champions Awards returned this year with a glitzy event held at the DoubleTree Hilton, Glasgow on Saturday 18th September. The event hosted by Jackie Bird celebrated and recognised the positive contribution that businesses and individuals make across their communities in Scotland.
We were delighted to have reached the final three under the ‘Community Project of the Year’ category, sponsored by The National Lottery Community Fund. On behalf of everyone at CentreStage - massive congratulations to the winners on the night, ‘Jean’s Bothy’ who champion a Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub in Helensburgh.
More than 300 guests, including famous faces from sport and showbiz joined in the celebration to salute our heroes. Wrestler Jack Jester, STV newsreader Kelly-Ann Woodland, actor Iain Robertson and the cast of River City were among the stars who attended.
Sheena Boyd from our team is pictured with June Fergusson, one of our volunteers who represented CentreStage at the event.
Paul Mathieson, CentreStage CEO comments on the recognition, “At CentreStage, like many charities, we had challenges to overcome these past 18 months and had to adapt quickly when most of our activities were stopped back in March 2020.
As a team we focussed on where we could help most, working alongside privately sectored, furloughed volunteers and grassroots organisations to provide much needed support to our local communities.
We have a fantastic team of staff and volunteers at CentreStage and it is lovely that their achievements have been recognised at the Scotland’s Champions Awards.”
